You may already be the person colleagues come to for help. You know how to solve a problem, explain a difficult topic, or get something done.

That experience could be useful to people outside your workplace too.

Start with one person you can help

Think about a problem you have solved more than once. Who else has that problem? What would a good result look like for them?

Your first offer could be a consultation, a small project, or a live workshop. Keep the scope clear enough that you can deliver it alongside your other responsibilities.

Learn what it takes to find a client

A useful skill is the starting point. You also need a way to explain the result, reach the right people, and deliver what you promised.

The articles here help you think through those steps. You can read about choosing an offer, finding customers, picking affordable tools, and making the work manageable. Some articles will include a YouTube walkthrough so you can see how a setup works.

Give yourself room to learn

You can start small while keeping your job. A paid project gives you a chance to learn what people need, how long the work takes, and whether you enjoy doing it independently.

As you gain experience, you can decide what comes next. That might be a steady side income, independent consulting, teaching your skill, or building a small business.

Use what helps you

These notes draw on building Wizard of HCM and researching the questions that come up along the way. The aim is to help you make a decision or try a useful next step in your own work.
